Product Details

The Altitude: Built for Movement. Ready for Whatever the Trail Throws.

Designed for movement. The Altitude is built for conditions where a heavy rain shell feels excessive — but a regular layer isn't enough. It blocks wind, handles light rain, and stays breathable while you move. Lightweight. Packable. Made for people who are rarely still.

Key specs at a glance

  • Material: 100% recycled nylon
  • Sun protection: UPF 50+ (blocks 98% of UV rays)
  • Water resistance: Water-repellent — handles light rain and drizzle
  • Wind resistance: Engineered to block wind and wind chill
  • Fit: Male and Female cuts
  • Colours: Aquifer, Lilac, Full Moon
  • Sizes: S, M, L, XL
  • Adjustable details: Hood and cuffs

Made for

  • Early morning runs
  • Windy trails and exposed ridges
  • Light drizzles and mountain mist
  • Trekking in variable mountain weather
  • Bike rides and daily commutes
  • Travel days and carry-on packing
  • Coffee runs after workouts
  • Inner layer in snow conditions with a down jacket over the top
  • Everyday outdoor movement

Unlike traditional rain jackets

Heavy rain shells can feel clammy and restrictive when you're actually moving. The Altitude is designed to regulate comfort during motion — the recycled nylon moves with you, breathes while you work, and doesn't weigh you down when conditions ease. Pack it into a vest pocket and forget it's there until you need it.

Two ways to wear it

5–20°C: The Altitude alone is all you need for a full day of active hiking and trekking. Blocks wind, handles light weather, packs down to nothing.

Negative temperatures / snow: Wear it as an outer shell with a layering. One of TheRec's customers wore it as outer shell in Kang Yatse II expedition summit at negative temperatures all day

Is it sustainable?

The Altitude is made entirely from 100% recycled nylon — reducing reliance on virgin petroleum-based fabric. TheRec supports environmental cleanup initiatives across India. Gear you feel good wearing, in more ways than one.

Frequently asked questions

What temperature range does it work in?
Standalone: 5–20°C for active hiking, trekking, and running. In negative temperatures and snow: inner layer with a down jacket over the top.

Is it waterproof?
Water-repellent, not waterproof. It handles light rain, drizzle, and mountain mist. For sustained heavy rain, use a dedicated waterproof shell.

Is it good for Himalayan or snow mountain treks?
Yes — as part of a layering system. Inner layer under your down jacket in snow conditions. Standalone for active trail days at altitude in milder temperatures.

How packable is it?
Compresses into a vest pocket or daypack side pouch. Light enough to carry every day and forget about until the wind picks up.

How do I choose my cut and colour?
Start with Male or Female for the cut that fits your body shape, then pick from three colourways — Aquifer, Lilac, or Full Moon. All available in S, M, L, XL.

How do I wash The Altitude?
Machine wash cold with mild detergent on a delicate or small cycle. Tumble dry low.

I simply loved it, This Windbreaker Jacket is now part of each training day scheduled, I would highly recommended for every athlete- This jacket really help me to stay protected and warm post workout chill, also I used this jacket during my recent Ladakh khardungla challenge 72km Run and Training, this easy to pack, light weight and most importantly, it worked as designed. If you are Runner, Trekker, Gym, or any sport person, go-for it.

Used The Altitude windbreaker for the Khardungla Challenge — a race that climbs to 17,500 ft, starting at 3 AM from Khardung village. Temperatures at that hour, and for most of the climb, are brutally low, and I wore this jacket all the way until K-Top through some of the harshest conditions of the race.

Despite how thin the fabric feels, it genuinely served the purpose. It cut the wind well on the exposed sections of the climb, where the cold really bites, and never felt like a burden even after hours on. At 170 grams, I almost forgot I had it on — which is exactly what you want at altitude, when every extra gram and every ounce of restriction works against you.

For anyone racing or trekking at high altitude where a heavy shell isn't practical but you still need real wind protection, this jacket earns its place in the kit.

I have recently used it at the Khardungla Challenge. I had it on me for almost 50 Kms through various wind and weather conditions. It was super light and helped me a lot against the breeze and heat.

Just back from Kang Yatse 2 (6,250 m) expedition, and one piece of gear that quietly earned its place: the Altitude Windbreaker Jacket with UPF 50+ sun protection.

On long, exposed days above 6,000 m, it struck the perfect balance—comfortable enough to wear for hours under harsh sun and wind, yet so light and packable that it barely registered in my pack when stowed. Fast‑drying, breathable, and genuinely protective, it became my go‑to shell over base and mid layers on approach days and summit push.

If you’re building a 6,000 m+ kit list and want a wind/sun layer that doesn’t punish your weight budget, this is a must‑recommended product.

I had come across this product at a BIB Expo in Pune in June, and the super-light weight and unique texture were enough to convince me to buy it.

It has been a fantastic companion during my last two monsoon hikes. Wind, rain, and sun - this sure feels like a one-stop solution for unpredictable outdoor conditions. Lightweight, comfortable, fast-drying and easy to carry without feeling like an extra layer.

Overall, a very practical piece of gear for anyone who loves being outdoors, especially during the monsoon. Definitely worth trying.

Perfect for rainy, windy and cold weathers. Used this one jacket for my entire trip to Manali in July during heavy rains and loved using it. Would 10/10 recommend to try this. 💕

I’ve been using this windcheater on the outdoors for a while now, and it’s become one of those things that just stays in my backpack on every trip.

What I like the most is how incredibly lightweight it is. It gives you the protection you need without ever feeling bulky, so you almost forget you’re carrying it. Whether it’s a windy summit, a chilly morning, or an unexpected drizzle, it’s really handy to have with you.

The best part, though, is how compact it gets. It folds completely into its own chest pocket, turning into a tiny pouch that barely takes up any space. I usually clip it onto my backpack with a carabiner, so it’s always within easy reach instead of being buried inside my bag.

For anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors, every bit of space and weight matters, and this jacket gets both right. It’s practical, thoughtfully designed, and easy to carry around without a second thought. It’s one of those pieces of gear you end up packing for every trip simply because it’s so convenient and reliable.❤️🫡

Being a minimalist, I'm always searching for things that can do more than one job. Every piece of gear I carry has to earn its place. So when I bought 'The Altitude' jacket at the NDM Expo, I actually felt a little guilty. I didn't compare specs, read reviews, or even know it was technically called a windbreaker. I bought it for one simple reason, I loved the color.
Then came the Himalayas.
Over 217k at an average altitude of around 4000mtr, this jacket slowly became the one I kept reaching for.
When my insulated jackets felt too heavy or itchy, I wore this.
When the temperature dropped after sunset, it became the extra layer that kept the cold away.
When my crew vehicle was nowhere nearby & it suddenly started snowing, it worked as a water-repellent outer layer.
And when the sun turned brutal at nearly 4700mtr, it protected me from both the wind & the high altitude sun without making me feel like I was overheating.
I never planned to rely on it this much. But every time the conditions changed, somehow this jacket had an answer. For someone who believes in carrying less and making every item count, that's probably the biggest compliment I can give a piece of gear.

And maybe the best part?
It finally ended the guilt of buying a piece of gear just because I loved the color.

Fully satisfied with this windcheater. The fabric feels premium and comfortable, and the fit and design are spot on. I use it regularly for running as well as everyday wear, and it performs well in both cases. Looking forward to more colour options and similar products in the future.

I’ve had my eyes on this ever since its launch, and I couldn’t be happier using it. It truly does full justice to the term windbreaker. The quality, pockets, stitching, and the way it folds into a tiny bag are spot on—absolutely a must-have for runners and hikers alike. Highly recommend this product!
